Announcement from Dew Valley

Posted on September 17, 2013 by Alan Kelly

I welcome the announcement that Dew Valley Foods Ltd has won a contract to supply all McDonald’s Irish restaurants with bacon. This deal is thought to be worth about 3 million euros over five years. It is thought that this deal will see the firm deliver up to 9 million pieces of cooked bacon to McDonalds each year. I congratulate Dew Valley Foods Ltd on winning this contract. This is a major boost to the Irish Agriculture Section and it is further proof that the produce of Irish Farmers is indeed of top quality.

€500,000 of Road Project for South Tipperary

Posted on September 17, 2013 by Alan Kelly

I have announced over €500,000 worth of road projects for South Tipperary. The new funding came available following Tipperary Town councillors voting  not to let the Town's link road go ahead. When Tipperary town council voted not to let the link road proceed, I immediately ensured that funding would remain spent in Tipperary. Now we will have significant footpath works in Tipperary town, new resurfacing through Lattin and major improving works between Ballingarry and Urlingford. The €500,000 is only available to spend in 2013. A number of projects were identified that could the funding to its best use. Working in the Department, it was important that some portion of the funding would go towards repairs in Tipperary if the Link road was not to go ahead. The funding will now be used for a major road strengthening initiative on the road between Ballingarry and Urlingford, the R690. €238,000 works commence this week between the town lands of Crossogues and Foilacamin. The village of Lattin will also see over €110,000 spent resurfacing of the main road through the village. Tipperary town will also see additional footpaths connecting residential areas on the Dundrum Road and Galbally Road with the town by footpath. Finally a grant of €35,000 will be allocated to the Old Bridge in Carrick-on-Suir which was identified earlier in the year of in need some repairs. Having ensured that the funding would stay in Tipperary, I am glad that investment will be of real benefit to many people right across South Tipperary. These projects will ensure the level of funding South Tipp receive is maximised and will benefit the a significant number of road users from drivers to pedestrians. All of these works will improve the local environment for many Tipperary people and follows additional funding for road repairs from the Government's stimulus package announced earlier in the year.
