Campaigning in Cork

I was recently campaigning in Cork city with my party colleagues Ciaran Lynch and Deputy Party Leader Joan Burton. We addressed a large gathering of Labour members and spent two days canvassing. The reception we got was fantastic. Joan is very well liked by the public and people really respect her work in Finance, where she communicates with everyday people about the complex economic happenings in our country in a very simple, rational and effective way.
I have a great relationship with the party members in Cork and the Cllrs. Having spent so many years there while in UCC and working in media circles, I have got to know them very well and I get great support. I know the city so well and in many ways they treat me as one of their own.
I also got to spend some more time with the UCC branch, which has been so good to me. The branch which is chaired by Conor Ryan is very important to me, as I helped re-establish it as the Jim Kemmy branch when I was in UCC. They have been very supportive to me in my campaign and I know I can rely on them all the way.
