In Ballincollig with Cllr Martin Coughlan

I spent much of yesterday with Cll Martin Coughlan in Ballincollig. Martin is a tru Labour man. He has huge integrity and is a really sound fella.
this was the first time I had canvassed in Ballincollig and again I have to say the reception was great. People liked the fact that I was a young candidate. They liked what I had to say about investment and jobs. They really appreciated what I was saying about education and broadband.
Even more than that though, they really respected the Labour party and the leadership of Eamon Gilmore. This really came across there. Comments like 'ye are the only ones representing us'; 'Gilmore is great in the Dail'; 'You have to get this other shower out'; 'thanks for standing up for the public sector workers' etc.
I believe that we in the Labour party are really connecting with the people with our policies and the way in which we are standing up for lower and middle income workers. The mood in the air for us is good and we need to keep along the same track.
