Today I launched the Roscrea Community Action Plan.
The plan was developed over the last six months and identifies key actions in the business, social, community & environment areas. There was widespread consultation with all stakeholders and the community. There will be ongoing commitment to the implementation of the plan from all key stakeholders.
The appropriate structures are now in place which allow communities to interact and interface with all of the key agencies on a respectful and productive basis. Tipperary County Council will facilitate and administer these structures and the various agencies have committed to working with the community on a partnership basis.
Some of the actions that are currenly being progressed are the provision of a Community House in the Gleann Glas estate. This house can provide an accessible and convenient facilities for residents in that area to access key services and opportunities such as youth activities, education and training as well as a meeting space and administration support.
The plan also looks to utilising to best effect the facilities available in the town - for examaple a Community Soccer League has been organised and the sports areas in Colaiste Phobail Roscrea are being opened up to facilitate this league. Roscrea United soccer club were also funded through Tipperary County Council to have 13 coaches participate in the Kickstart FAI coaching course during 2015 and it is hoped that these can contribute their skills back to the community
