KELLY CONGRATULATES PRESIDENT ELECT MICHAEL D HIGGINS: LABOUR'S GREATEST DAY
Posted on October 31, 2011 by Alan Kelly
I must congratulate Michael D. Higgins, our President Elect on his fantastic victory.
My colleague and friend Michael D. Higgins is a man of huge courage, conviction and vision. He has always been a hero of mine and an inpiration to me and that's why I am so proud of his victory in this Presidential election. Michael D helped and encouraged me to get into electoral politics with the Labour party when I first got elected to the Senate in 2007 and I will never forget him for that.

DWYER FAMILY DESERVE INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION INTO MICHAEL'S DEATH
Posted on May 09, 2010 by Alan Kelly
I am calling for an independent investigation into the killing of Tipperary native, Michael Dwyer in Bolivia.
An independent investigation into the killing Michael Dwyer is the only possible solution to this most serious issue.
Michael Dwyer was a loving and much loved son of the Dwyer family.
He was a loving, caring person who came from a multi-cultural background.
Last year he was tragically shot dead in Bolivia and the quality of the information emerging from authorities there is suspect.

Campaigning with Eamon in Cork
Posted on May 01, 2009 by Alan Kelly
Today and yesterday Eamon Gilmore was with us in Cork. We had a social evening in the Rochestown Park hotel on Thursday and there was a huge crowd present to here Eamon and myself speak. It was a great opportunity to rally the troops again for the final 5 weeks. it also gave me time to meet up with some of the new candidates that have come to the field in the last few weeks. I was really pleased to see so many new, young faces amongst them.

Young Scientists Exhibition
Posted on January 19, 2012 by Alan Kelly
I visited the 2012 Young Scientist Exhibition last week and came across many interesting projects which demonstrate that there are Tipperary teenagers out there putting their brains to work in the food and science sectors. I met with schools from Borrisokane, Thurles and Roscrea during the day. It is only when you see that many enthusiastic kids under one roof you think, yes, there are brilliant students out there and they can ensure the future of innovative indigenous business. There was an incredibly high standard of local entries, which illustrates that North Tipperary students are among the best in the country.

Integrated Ticketing
Posted on November 30, 2011 by Alan Kelly
I was delighted to unveil the new Leap Card, the long-promised integrated ticketing for Dublin. After 12 years of promises, it’s great to see this project final get off the ground, a positive move for integrated travel. I have worked extremely hard to get this project moving as I felt it was important to commuters. We have 500 customers testing the system for us at the moment and we’ll take their feedback so that the final launch is as smooth as possible.

First Day in Dail Eireann
Posted on March 09, 2011 by Alan Kelly
It was with great pride and emotion I entered the gates of Leinster House on my first day in Dail Eireann. I know the place well. I had been going in there during my days in Labour Youth, as someone who held various posts in the Labour party and as an ordinary member. I had also been in there as a Senator and MEP but there was definitely something differnt about being a TD.

Election Celebration Gig - Nenagh Abbey Court Hotel
Posted on March 06, 2011 by Alan Kelly
We had a great night in the Abbey Court Hotel. I could not get over the crowd that turned up. It was simply fantastic. It was a night to thank all my family, friends and supporters for all the work they did for me. At the end of the day they are the reason I was elected TD.
It was a specail night also for all the lads who had worked with me for so long, Tracey, Deirdre and Michelle in particular along with John, Colm and DEan as well as many others. They delivered for me when it mattered most. I had a specail word for my DOE Liam Gleeson, a mountain of drive, common sense and loyalty. I'll never forget all the work he got through.

INVEST NORTH TIPP UP AND RUNNING
Posted on February 16, 2011 by Alan Kelly
The partnership, Invest North Tipp, has now been officially launched. The programme ring fences €1 Million for high potential start-up businesses in North Tipperary.
A simple way of describing it is that it is almost like a Dragons Den for North Tipperary – although it is confined to the areas that are likely to yield employment in the future, ICT, pharma, medical devices and clean tech. The pool of finance available is €1million and two investment companies have come on board, Ronoc & Tolisons.
Both of these are leading Irish Investment companies with a track record and reputation for delivering results. The programme would work by companies going through a strict investment application and if successful the investors would take an equity share in the company.

Posted on December 14, 2010 by Alan Kelly
I was in New York last week doing some work that I had planned for some time. While there I was delighted to take up an invitation to attend the Tipperary GAA Dinner Dance. It was a fantastic occasion especially as the Liam McCarthy was present under the stewardship of Tipp Manager Liam Sheedy and Captain Eoin Kelly. Also present were selector Mick Ryan and Tipp U 21 Captain Padraic Maher. We also had a Kerry man in our midst in the statur of John Evans, Tipp Football Manager and a real character.

GOING FOR ELECTON IN NORTH TIPP
Posted on November 29, 2010 by Alan Kelly
I have formally announced I will be putting himself forward to the local Labour organisation as a candidate for the forthcoming general election. I've made the announcement following a serious of phone calls and meetings with Labour Party Leader Eamon Gilmore last week.
I am honoured to accept Eamon Gilmore’s invitation to put myself forward as a candidate for Labour in North Tipperary. This will be the most important election in North Tipperary and Ireland for a generation and I am delighted that Eamon has requested that I be part of his team for it.
