Campaigning in Waterford's Red Square
Campaigning in Waterford's Red Square

I spent last Saturday in Waterford on the campaign trail. I was joined by my colleagues Brian O'Shea T.D, Mayor Jack Walsh and Cllr. Seamus Ryan. We campaigned throughout Waterford again and and got a great reception.

The Cllrs in Waterford are excellent and very popular as is Brian O'Shea, who has been a fantastic servant to the people of Waterford. I have the height of admiration for him.

With Dell Workers

For eight months now I have been working with the DELL Workers Group on trying to secure them a better deal following the withdrawal of the DELL company from much of its plant in Limerick. This has had a huge impact on the economic well being of the Mid West as a result of the thousands of job losses amongst families in Limerick, Tipperary, Clare, Kerry and Cork.

Paddy Downey Convention Cashel

Paddy Downey Convention
Paddy Downey Convention

Tonight I attended the Labour party's Cashel convention that selected Cllr. Paddy Downey as our candidate. Paddy is a fine candidate and a great local community activist across a broad range of activities.

The convention, which had approximately 100 people in attendance was chaired by my colleague Sean Sherlock TD. Senator Phil Prendergast, Cllr Darren Ryan and Cllr Maureen O'Donoghue also spoke at the convention. Many people spoke of their admiration for Maureen as she is standing down from Cashel Town Council after many years of service for the Labour party.

Its very important that we win back our seat in this area and I'm 100% behind Paddy and I look forward canvassing with him over the coming months.

South Tipp Hospital Meeting
South Tipp Hospital Meeting

Last night I attended the rally in Clonmel to maintain the services of South Tipp General Hospital. It was deja vu for me after being so heavily involved in the campaign in Nenagh. There was a large turnout at the meeting and I addressed the crowd about what I thought the HSE's plans were.
